Software profile 256kb update changed pro-actively
Posted by Jeroen van Kleef on 30 October 2015 12:32 PM

Dear customers,

The last few weeks we received a substantial number of tickets from customers requesting the update of the software profile of their devices from the old 128kb to the new 256kb profile. As you might know, new DCF's require more memory space and therefore the 256kb software profile must be used. Often customers face this issue trying to update their devices with a new DCF, causing an error after the upload. To resolve this in the current situaties, customers need to contact Squarell to request the update of the software profile. Then the key for the new software profile can be downloaded with iUpload and be sent to the device. This process can be annoying when you are in a truck making the installation under time pressure.

Therefore Squarell decided to update the software profiles of all customers pro-actively. This means that customers can load the new software profile to their devices whenever they want and without the help of Squarell staff. We have planned to start updating all 128kb profiles in our system on Thursday the 5th of November from 12h00. After that moment, you will see an increased number of Tasks in iUpload. Customer who use the ExpertView Webservice together with one of our Over The Air (OTA) upload protocols, will see an increased number of records when they receive the "getInstallRecords()" response.

IMPORTANT:

- Please be aware that changes will only be active after you've written the new software profile key to the device. So without doing this, nothing will change in the devices in the field yet.
- Changing the software profile has no effect on the device functionality.
- Devices with the new software profile are backwards compatible with all Firmware and DCF files.

Customers that don't want the software profiles of their device to be updated, please submit an online ticket. Please do this before Thursday 12h00.

If you have any other question, please let us know.

Many thanks and regards,
Squarell Technical Department

RSS feeds on Squarell Support Portal
Posted by Jeroen van Kleef on 17 August 2015 09:48 AM

When we asked our customers how we could improve our customer service, many of them responded: “We would like to be updated pro-actively about Squarell news like release notes, new vehicle support and installation manuals.”
We’ve introduced the support of RSS feeds on our Squarell Support Portal.

Stay up-to-date on Squarell news
With RSS feeds you are alerted when new content is placed on our Support Portal. This means for example, that you can subscribe to the RSS feed of our Vehicle Support Matrix and automatically receive a message once a new matrix is uploaded. Or you can be alerted once the release notes of a new DCF are posted on the website. By this new feature you stay up-to-date about changes; this allows you to take action (request new DCF, support new vehicles) when this is required for your business.

We trust that these RSS feeds on our customer support portal will improve your product experience and effectivity. Learn more about using RSS feed in our Squarell Support Portal user manual.
